Waterjet Cutting

Abrasive Waterjet Cutting

Waterjet cutting is a process used to cut materials using a jet of high pressure water and an abrasive additive. Bay Machine & Fabrication uses high quality almandine garnet abrasive to ensure a good edge finish. Jets of the mixture are pressurized to 55,000 pounds per square inch (psi) and blasted through a tiny nozzle.

Benefits of Waterjet Cutting

An important benefit of the water jet is the ability to cut material without interfering with its inherent structure, as there is no heat-affected zone (HAZ). Minimizing the effects of heat allows metals to be cut without harming or changing intrinsic properties. Sharp corners, pierce holes, and shapes with minimal inner radii are all possible.

Equipment:

Bay Machine & Fabrication is proud to utilize two state-of-the-art Flow International waterjet cutting machines. Flow is the industry leader in waterjet cutting technology. Our larger waterjet has two cutting heads and a bed size of 10′ x 12′. The duel cutting heads allow us to cut duplicate parts in half the time! Our smaller waterjet has a bed size of 6’x12′.
